Leinster Indoor Athletics Competition
Best wishes to Third Year student Amy Murphy who, following her recent
success in the Leinster Indoor Athletics Competition, will compete in
the All-Ireland Championships in March. Amy, a former Leinster
champion, finished first in the 60 metre sprint and also received
bronze medals in the 200 metre sprint and the long-jump event.
U16 All-Ireland Basketball Final
Following their success in the All-Ireland Quater Finals our U16
Boy's Basketball team will compete in the semi-final play offs on
Sunday 6 March. The venue is yet to be confirmed. Best wishes to all.
Football
Congratulations to our First Year Boy’s Football team for their
excellent win over De La Salle College, Wicklow. They will now take on
St. David’s, Greystones in the Quarter Final. Best wishes must also be
extended to our U16 Boy’s Football team who will play Newgrange in the
Leinster Final after mid-term.
Hoofprints Showjumping Competition
Best wishes to Chloe Daly, Michael Doyle, Thomas Gaffney and Amy
Skinner who will be taking part in the Inter- schools Secondary
Showjumping League on Saturday 26 February.
Student Council
On Wednesday 16 February student council members from all year groups
were honoured in a ceremony organised by Ms O’Reilly. Student council
members proudly received their official badges from principal, Ms
O’Neill. The student council plays an important role in Avondale
Community College, from organising student events to looking after the
welfare of those they represent.
