Week beginning October 10th 2011



Careers Evening
A Careers Evening will take place on 18 October and is open for students from 3 to 6 Year and their parents. It will consist of career stalls and a college exhibition area. A letter has been sent out to Parents/ Guardians. Please return forms as soon as possible.

Sponsored Walk 2010
Avondale C.C.Annual Sponsored Walk took place on Wednesday 5 October. Well done to all students who raised money for the school. A special thanks, to members of the community who sponsored students for this event. All donations are much appreciated and will go towards the school’s extra-curricular fund. A large number of prizes were awarded to students including the top collector’s prize and best collector in each group.

Sports News
Our First Year Boys’ football team will meet Arklow CBS on Monday 17 October. This is the first game of the Wicklow League.
Meanwhile, the seasoned Senior Boys’ team will meet Presentation College, Bray in the first round of their league. Best of luck to both teams!

TY News
This morning, 62 TY students set off to Killary in Co. Mayo for a few days of fun- filled adventure activities. The students are accompanied by their teachers Ms. Hannafin and Mr. Breen. They will be experiencing high rope and zip wire challenges, orienteering, canoeing and other water sports. The annual trip to Killary is traditionally one of the most memorable trips of Transition Year and we are sure this year will be no exception!

6th Year Parents’ Information Evening
We would like to thank Anne Levelle of U.C.D. for explaining the HEAR and DARE Access Schemes, as well as the Third Level Grant System. Thanks also to Parents/ Guardians for their attendance and interest.

Comhairle na nÓg
Congratulations to Craig Curley, who is a Comhairle na nÓg delegate. This is a forum for children and young people to discuss local and national issues of relevance to them. Well done to Craig!
