Avondale Community College
School Notes
Week beginning September 5th 2011

Welcome Back
We offer a warm welcome to all students and staff of Avondale Community College. This year we extend our welcome to a large group of First Year Students who are settling in well to their new environment. A number of new students have also joined other years, including a group of Spanish Students. We wish everyone an enjoyable and productive year ahead.

Exam Results
The management and staff of Avondale Community College wish to congratulate last year’s Leaving Certificate students who recently received their results. This year’s results were a testament to the hard work and dedication of both students and staff alike. As college offers are presently being filled, we would like to wish all our past pupils every success with their future academic endeavours. Our Junior Certificate students are eagerly awaiting their exam results on Wednesday 14 September. We are sure their hard work will have paid off and that their results will encourage others to do well.

First Year Induction
Our new cohort of First Year Students is settling into school life. A comprehensive Induction Programme is in place to help First Year Students with their transition from primary to secondary school. First Year Students enjoyed a team building and bonding day at Eco Adventure Centre in Enniskerry on Thursday 25 August, where they had an opportunity to meet their new classmates. The First Students also met with their Buddies. The Fifth Year Students shared their wealth of knowledge about Avondale CC and will be meeting First Year Students on a regular basis to offer support and advice to our newest entrants.

Extra – Curricular Activities:
All First Year Students had an opportunity to sign up for the wide array of extra-curricular activities available in Avondale Community College, to suit the interest of all. Students were enthusiastic and excited about the new activities they are going to experience in the coming year.
