There was a very emotional presentation at lunchtime today to mark the retirement of our irreplaceable Irish and French teacher Ms Anne O’Brien. Having devoted nearly forty years to the students in Avondale, her quiet dedication, enthusiasm for languages and her kind, gentle nature has been celebrated by all. Ms Tobin warmly recounted memories from the past while Ms D’arcy shared the department’s gratitude for all Ms O’Brien has given to the school, her colleagues and the solid support shown to her friends on staff. There is no doubt that we are sorry to lose such a loved colleague and we wish her the very best in all that lies ahead. Go n-eirí an t-ádh leat!
